Lead Coach Emily Johnston

Riding bikes is something that I have always been passionate about and coaching has been a great way to pass that on to others. I learned everything the hard way, usually the best help I would get with something was "you just kinda go fast and do it". So it took me awhile to get things dialed. It's amazing what a few instructions can do for your riding.

I began coaching 3 years ago with the Dirt Series, a camp based in whistler, BC, Canada after I completed my CMIC (Canadian Mountain Bike Instructor Course). Coaching is something that I wanted to pursue after riding for 10 years and racing pro DH/MX for 6. I have a background in riding horses, showed hunter/jumpers for 5 years and taught riding as well, this is where I first learned how to pick apart the mechanics of what someone is doing during a maneuver.

I love learning new things on a bike, lately it's been no-foot cans and tuck no-handers on my dirt jump bike, and I love helping people get that feeling of dialing something new.

For coaching in all disciplines of mountain biking contact Freeride NZ and I will be able to help you achieve your goals.
